April 3, 2007 – When interviewed by NME in the UK, Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones speaks about snorting the ashes of his dead father. He said, “He was cremated and I couldn’t resist grinding him up with a little bit of blow.” Later, Richards claims this was all a joke, but the interviewer says, “He did seem to be quite honest about it. There were too many details for him to be making it up.”
April 3, 1980 – Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders is arrested in Memphis for disorderly conduct after punching a bartender at a club. The drunken Hynde then proceeded to kick out the window of the police car that took her to jail. The Pretenders were on their first U.S. tour and were able to perform the next night.
