January 13, 2003 – Pete Townshend of The Who is arrested on suspicion of downloading child porn. Police officers impound seven computers, but after a four-month investigation, he is cleared of all charges. He claimed he was doing research while writing his autobiography and says he was sexually abused as a child himself.

January 13, 2021 – Tim Bogert (born John Voorhis Bogert III), vocalist and guitarist with Vanilla Fudge, Cactus and several other bands, dies of cancer. He was 76. Bogert worked with many rock heavyweights including Jeff Beck, Bob Weir, Rick Derringer and Bo Diddley.
January 13, 2021 – Sylvain Sylvain (born Sylvain Mizrahi), guitarist with the New York Dolls, dies from cancer at his home in Nashville. He was 69. Sylvain played with the Dolls until their demise in 1977. He then worked consistently with David Johansen, had solo records and guested on numerous other albums.
