January 7, 2020 – Neil Peart, Rush drummer, dies from brain cancer in Santa Monica, CA. He was 67. Peart was a revered and respected rock drummer, who was also the primary lyricist for the band. Peart had announced his retirement from the band in 2015 after suffering from chronic tendinitis and shoulder problems for many years. He had quietly fought his brain cancer diagnosis for over three years.
January 7, 2022 – Bobby Harrison, early drummer and vocalist for Procol Harum, dies in England. He was 82. He left just after their success with the song “A Whiter Shade of Pale.”
