March 22, 1974 – The Eagles release On the Border, their third studio album. It’s the first Eagles album to feature guitarist Don Felder.
March 22, 1971 – The Allman Brothers Band is arrested on charges of heroin and marijuana possession in Jackson, AL. It was their first bust all together, though a roadie had recently been shot off his motorcycle by two cops in another brush with the law. The charges were later reduced to disturbing the peace and the band paid over $5,000 in fines and expenses.
March 22, 1982 – Iron Maiden release their third studio album, The Number of the Beast, their first album with Bruce Dickinson singing for them. It has been cited as one of the most influential heavy metal albums of all time.

March 22, 2005 – Rod Price dies after falling down a stairway at his home while suffering a heart attack. He was 57. Price was the original guitarist in Foghat, known as the “Slide King of Rock And Roll.” Price played on Foghat’s first ten albums.
March 22, 1996 – Don Murray dies from post-operative complications for ulcer surgery. He was 50. Murray was the drummer in The Turtles.
March 22, 1994 – Dan Hartman dies of an AIDS-related brain tumor in Westport, Connecticut. He was 43. Hartman was a singer, songwriter and producer who had also been a member of the Edgar Winter Group and wrote the band’s hit “Free Ride.” His biggest single was “I Can Dream About You,” which was featured on his album of the same name as well as the Streets of Fire soundtrack in 1984.
March 22, 2017 – John Thomas “Sib” Hashian, best known as the drummer for the Boston, died at sea after collapsing in the middle of a set while performing on board the Legends of Rock cruise. He was 67. Hashian played on the first two Boston albums, prior to being replaced by Boston’s original drummer Jim Masdea. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who dated Hashian’s daughter Lauren for over a decade and married her in 2019, called Hashian his “second dad.”
