May 3, 2004 – The U.S. Supreme Court rejects an appeal by bassist Robert Daisley and drummer Lee Kerslake who claim they are owed royalties from Ozzy Osbourne. May 3, 1968 – Jimi Hendrix is arrested in Toronto, Canada for possession of hashish and heroin. After a trial that lasts for three days, the jury finds Hendrix not guilty, acquitting him of both charges.

May 3, 2014 – Bobby Gregg (born Robert Grego), who played drums on Bob Dylan’s “Like a Rolling Stone” and Simon and Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence” dies in Las Vegas. He was 78. Gregg would go on to play drums with Paul Simon, Peter, Paul & Mary, and John Cale. He also worked as a producer and A&R man for CBS and Epic Records.
